Meet Katy: Katy Nickell has been working in ceramics for over 20 years. She has a MFA and has taught art at the university level. She taught art at Norman High School for the past 6 years but is now currently working as a full-time artist and a private art teacher.

Description: Students will learn several hand-building techniques including slab-building, coil building and pinch-building as well as the use of slump and hump molds. We will make about 3 in class projects and can make more if time allows. Students will then learn the basics of glazing and firing as their work is first bisque-fired, then glaze-fired to completion.

Through this journey from conception to completion you will learn:
-The properties of clay.
-How to join pieces of clay together.
-How to dry your pieces without cracking.
-Different glazing techniques.
